Above is a recently unveiled printed banner to Martin Meehan, an IRA volunteer from the local Ardoyne area. As can be seen from the flyer in the second image, the launch took place on November 3rd, on the sixth anniversary of his death. A gallery of images of the launch can be found at Demotix. The photograph which informs the controversial central portion can be seen on Meehan’s WP page. The piece was paint-bombed on Nov. 6th (Irish News)

The language of “civil rights” and “equality” is being used at the Twaddell site, as can be seen in the placard shown here there are three copies of this sign: the second image, below, is of one on the north side of the street (visible in the previous set of Twaddell pictures) and the third image shows an additional copy on the electrical box on the south side of the street.

A fourth and final metal-work piece from the Cupar Way “peace” line shows an aeroplane in outline over a globe and gives a list of various Belfast streets which were formerly industrial centres: Shankill Rd., North St., Victoria St., High St., Ann St., Peters Hill, Royal Ave., Castle Place, Queens Bridge. A wide shot of all (one | two | three) four pieces (as well as Let Go Of The Past and 3 R’s) can be found below.

The back wall of Clonard Martyrs Memorial Garden – that is, the so-called “peace” line or (better) “war wall” – is decorated with portraits of twenty-five local óglaıgh and fıanna who died from 1920 to 1992 (though an Easter lily takes the place of Sean Gaynor on the far left).

In Defence Of The Woodvale

As mentioned in UDU-WDA-UDA-UFF, the end wall of Columbia Street was knocked down, taking with it a former Duke Elliott/UDA mural, which has now been replaced with boards (rather than murals) commemorating the history of the UDA and Elliott. Elliott lived one street over, in Leopold Street (WP). He was killed in 1972, at age 28, in a dispute with other UDA members.
